Two alumni companies are recognized in the annual list highlighting entrepreneurs.
Congratulations to Joshua Church ’13, Julian Davis ’17 and Rostam Reifschneider ’17 for being selected for the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Manufacturing & Industry category.
Joshua co-founded Edge Theory Labs, based in Carlsbad, with his cousin Rob Church (who is over 30). The portable iceless ice baths offer cold water immersion to help with athletic performance and recovery, mental health, sleep, immune system, metabolism and more. They recently donated an Edge Tub to LJCDS and spoke with athletes and design and innovation students.
In Upper School, Joshua took his first make-shift ice bath in a trash can on campus. Now, their invention is used by professional athletes, teams, doctors and trainers across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, UFC and the Olympic Games. Singer Pink demonstrates in her 60 Minutes interview how she benefits from the product after her physically grueling shows.
Julian and Rostam are co-founders and co-inventors of the technology behind Hydrova, an EPA-backed industry leader in zero-waste dross recycling. Hydrova’s patent-pending separations technology recovers valuable aluminum, salt and oxide products from dross and salt cake while generating hydrogen for clean energy use on-site. The Orange County company is dedicated to building a zero-waste and decarbonized future for the aluminum industry.
