How can we find comfort in discomfort? How can we find joy in addressing the questions our children have about people’s similarities and differences? Adult fears and lack of tools in our toolboxes often stop us from broaching the “taboo topics” of race, gender identity, sexuality, socioeconomic status and class with our children. Come learn how to raise the next generation to be respectful, and comfortable with the diverse world around them. In this interactive workshop with facilitator Monique Marshall you will practice ways to respond thoughtfully to children’s natural curiosity, to normalize your children’s noticing of difference, and to address bias when it arises. You will leave with language, and practical tools to help tackle those uncomfortable moments in the grocery store when your child asks a question about the appearance of a stranger standing in front of you in line at the checkout! Come prepared to connect, learn, and play!
