Dynamic, creative, interdisciplinary and thoughtful, the La Jolla Country Day School (LJCDS) performing arts program is an integral part of each student’s liberal arts education. Whether acting in a play, singing a chorale, dancing a pas de deux or marching in a drum line, students are encouraged to use their imaginations while simultaneously building discipline-specific skills through intensive training with our dedicated faculty of professional, working artists.
Class offerings in music, acting, dance and technical theater also emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, often culminating in public performances both on campus and off campus, from our own Four Flowers Theater to international stages around the world. As part of a holistic approach to learning, our students are encouraged to see their work in a larger sociocultural context, exploring ideas relevant to the rest of their studies and to their lives as young, maturing, citizens of the world.
