LJCDS' annual fundraiser makes history by surpassing last year's all-time high.
On May 18, Blue Blash 2023 kicked off with an electrifying performance by the Upper School drumline, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening of fundraising and celebration.
Together, the community raised a record-setting $1,020,000, surpassing last year’s all-time high of $1 million. The funds benefit tuition assistance, faculty/staff professional development, Parents Association activities and the endowment.
To showcase the impact of tuition assistance, alumnus Ruben Peña ’11 shared his journey from a timid student to the confident director of football operations at San Diego State University.
LJCDS’ annual fundraiser is led by the Parents Association, with support from the philanthropy department. This year’s Blue Bash event committee included Alex Brook P’25 ’27, event chair; Marina Minasian P’24, past chair; Judy Fuller P’25, sponsorship lead; Jessica Goff P’28 and McKenzie Roman P’35 ’37, auction co-leads; and Muniba Khan P’33 ’35 ’38, stewardship lead.
“I am so incredibly proud of our super smart, very hard-working Blue Bash committee,” shares event chair Alex Brook. “They are from all divisions of our LJCDS community, and we came together this year to have fun and hit a goal we set our sights on from the very beginning, breaking the $1 million raised. It is the faculty/staff and our amazing students that make our school stand out as one of the best in Southern California. Our success exemplifies the power of what can happen when we all come together!"
The success of Blue Bash exemplifies the LJCDS community’s dedication and commitment to the school’s mission and values.
