“I inspire greatness for a better world by telling stories that move people from apathy to passion, passivity to action and confusion to understanding. I believe common ground is higher ground and strive to create an environment where everyone feels accepted, appreciated and empowered.”

Ian MacMaster was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, but feels most at home in California. He came to San Diego to play collegiate baseball at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he earned his bachelor’s in media communications. While competing at PLNU, he received the Champion of Character award and developed a strong desire to use his creative skills to serve others.

After a long and dedicated commitment to The Church at Rancho Bernardo, Mr. MacMaster joined LJCDS as the director of marketing and communications in 2023. He believes story is the most effective catalyst for change and aims to use storytelling to erase the lines of apathy that divide. When it comes to marketing and communications, Ian loves a complex challenge and is always looking for simplicity on the other side of complexity.

Ian and his wife Kristen enjoy all that San Diego has to offer. Their favorite thing to do is teach their two children new skills and travel together as a family.

    Payroll Manager

    Bio

“I inspire greatness for a better world by making the payroll process as seamless as possible. One of my business professors in college said that the most successful companies don’t skimp on employees’ basic needs. If staff are worried about their basic needs, then they are not giving the company 100 percent. If the faculty and staff are worried about whether or not their paychecks will be correct, they aren’t focusing on inspiring greatness for the next generation.”

Summer McCamon has more than 200 paycheck auditors, so attention to detail is important to her. She is customer-service driven and strives to support her co-workers with kindness, dignity and integrity. Before joining La Jolla Country Day School in August 2012, Ms. McCamon was the accounts receivable specialist at the San Diego American Red Cross.
