Parent Engagement

LJCDS is more than a school; it’s a community for the whole family. Parents, grandparents, guardians, educators, and students are part of a vibrant network that learns, grows, and celebrates together.

Parents and guardians are invited to get involved in ways that feel right for them. Feed your curiosity at a parent education workshop, show your school spirit by cheering at a game or clapping at a play, lend a hand by volunteering behind the scenes, or connect with fellow parents over coffee. Whether it’s five minutes or five hours, every contribution matters.

Why Parent Involvement Matters

When parents are engaged, students thrive. It strengthens the bond between home and school, builds lasting friendships among families, and creates a richer, more connected school experience. Being involved also gives parents a firsthand look at what makes LJCDS special.

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether you want to help plan an event, support a program, or lend a hand when you can, there’s a place for you to get involved. Volunteers are needed in the arts rooms, library, and school garden. Or, help the Admission Office, Wellness Team, or Community, Culture, and Belonging Department with events and activities.

Another way to engage is through the Parents Association. At LJCDS, every parent and guardian is a member of the PA. Help build the community by joining a committee or helping with their activities, including the Arts Alliance, Booster Club, or the yearly fundraiser, Blue Bash.
